"End
of Warranty" Inspections For New Homes |
It's
New, So It Can't Have Problems, Right?
You

that are nearing the end of the builder's
warranty.
Most
builders “warranty” a house for a period of one year.
It is a good idea to have a complete home inspection performed
shortly before the warranty expires so that covered defects and
deficiencies can be brought to the attention of the builder for remedy,
rather than become future expenses for the homeowner. Despite
high quality construction in most homes, some problems are usually found.
Sometimes items that appear to be minor in nature are advanced
warnings of future problems. Typical
problems found in new homes are: damaged or improperly installed
exterior siding (including synthetic stucco), damaged or ill fitting doors
and windows, improperly installed roof shingles and flashings, ungrounded
electrical outlets, damaged cabinets, improperly installed countertops and
